Bats can fly at a wide range of flight speeds. The bat species we used for this visualization (Leptonycteris yerbabuenae) is a nectar feeding bat and can hover to feed from flowers. During fast forward flight this species can reach speeds up to 12 m/s.
In the range of 1 to 7 m/s the movements of the wings vary extraordinarily.
Check out the three given flight speeds and see how the locomotion changes.
